Abstract
532,744. Control of motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 22, 1939, No. 24182. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1938. [Class 38 (iii)] Non-regenerative braking. A switch comprising a rotor A and a stator St operating change-over contacts K1, K2, and effective to disconnect a motor M when it has been braked to a low speed by reversing its connections to the supply, has its rotor driven in accordance with but in excess of the speed of the motor. The rotor A may be coupled to the motor M through change speed gearing or driven by an auxiliary slip ring machine H interconnected on primary and secondary sides with the main motor in which case the machine H has fewer poles than the main motor. Where the main motor is supplied from a D.C. source the machine H is connected to a further slip-ring machine coupled with the main D.C. motor.
