Abstract
471,529. Baffles in boiler water. HOLROYD, B. D. March 4, 1936, No. 6558. [Class 123 (ii)] A water circulator for a boiler with horizontal fire-tubes 2 comprises front and back arch frames 16, 17, supported from the shell and supporting a casing formed of longitudinally arranged plates 5-15 extending over and on each side of the fire-tubes, and preferably over the end of a firebox 4. Arch frame 16 is formed of sections 18, 19, 20 bolted together, distance pieces 21 being chosen to suit the particular arrangement of fire-tubes and the bolt holes in the plates being slotted to permit of adjustment. Arch frame 17 which is of less height is similarly formed. The centre sections carry three plates, the outer plates 9, 11, extending beyond the section and engaging in the turned-over edges of adjacent plates 8, 12, so that the sections and three plates may be slid away from the rest of the circulator. A front hood 23 is bolted to the top plates or is formed integrally with them. Arch frame 16 carries stays 24, 25, of spring steel their pressure against the top of the shell being adjustable by means of a bolt 28. Arch frame 17 is rigidly clamped to firebox stays 29 by bars 30, wihch are connected to stays 24, 25, by rods 31. The circulator parts are inserted through a manhole 32.
