Abstract

471,322. Washing-machines. DEAN & SON, Ltd., W. H., and DEAN, W. May 26, 1937, No. 14661. [Class 138 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXXI] The operating lever 13 of the agitator shaft 2 of a washing-machine is secured to the shaft by means of an elongated aperture 14 in the lever engaging over an upwardly projecting screw-threaded extension 11 of the shaft. A nut 15 working on the extension is tightened up and presses the lever against a collar 9 secured to the shaft and maintains it in the horizontal operative position wherein the handle 17 projects above the level of the removable table cover 6. When the machine is not in use and the table cover is to be placed in position, the nut is slacked off thereby permitting the operating lever to assume the inclined inoperative position.
