Abstract
469,283. Electron multipliers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ALDOUS, W. H. July 31,1936, No. 21232. [Class 39 (i)] A three or more stage multiplier of the type in which the stream is guided from one target electrode to the next by a magnetic field and in which a series of electrodes associated with the targets produces fields withdrawing the electrons from the target comprises at least two targets arranged back to back' so that their outward facing surfaces receive and transmit the stream. As shown, a multiplier comprises eight targets 1, 2, 3 ... 8 and eight withdrawing electrodes 1<1>, 2<1>, 31 .... 8<1> of which 1<1> is connected to the target 2 and so on, the electrodes 4<1>, 51 having flanges 9, 91. The cathode 1 may be photo-electric or thermionic.
