Abstract

Alloys or other materials containing nickel and copper, the nickel content of which is greater than the copper content or the nickel content of which is brought by the addition of nickel or materials containing nickel to such a value as to exceed the copper content, are decomposed by acid, e.g. sulphuric, at temperatures greater than 100 DEG C. and under increased pressure, the copper entering into solution being precipitated by the nickel as cement copper. The alloys or other materials may be oxidized on the surface prior to the acid treatment. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 29287/09 and 15850/11, [both in Class 1 (iii)].ALSO:Alloys or other materials containing nickel and copper, the nickel content of which is greater than the copper content or the nickel content of which is brought by the addition of nickel or materials containing nickel to such a value as to exceed the copper content, are decomposed by acid, e.g. sulphuric, at temperatures greater than 100 DEG C., and under increased pressure, the copper entering into solution being precipitated by the nickel as cement copper.
