Abstract

467,444. Feeding webs. CAMPBELL, K. C., GAGG, J., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Dec. 17, 1935, No. 34981. [Class 100 (i)] Apparatus for feeding webs of non-textile material to machines, e.g. webs of cellulosic material to wrapping machines, comprises cooperating feeding devices, e.g., rollers 5, 6, having a web engaging surface, such as the helix 14, extending across the web and arranged so that succeeding points on the surface engage the web at points lying further from the centre of the web, the surface being inclined in opposite directions from the centre of the web so as to apply lateral tension to the web. A number of axial rollers may be employed instead of a single roller 5 and the helical surface may be of rubber. The web may pass from the rollers 5, 6, through guides and a cutting device constructed as described in Specification 281,772, [Class 31 (i)].
