Abstract

257,872. Laroche, G. July 2, 1926 Winding sheets.-In a slitting and rewinding machine the web is fed over guide rolls 33 under the cutting-cylinder 3, slit by discs 19, and rewound on rolls 30. The cutting-cylinder consists of hard-surfaced removable rings with distance pieces carried on a drum supported on shafts 2. These latter are rotated by gearing 6 from a power shaft and are axially reciprocated to prevent grooving through worm and cam reduction gearing 10. The cutting-discs 19 are spring-pressed against the cylinder 3, and axially adjustable on shafts 23. The reels 30 are carried in arms 27 adjustably pivoted on shafts 25, and are pressed by gravity into contact with the surface of the cylinder 3, being rotated thereby. Removable masses 31 may be used for starting the winding.
