Abstract
467,327. Extracting liquid residues from casks &c. ANDREWS, F. T. C. Jan. 26, 1937, No. 2268. [Class 21] Liquid residue from a beer cask 3, Fig. 1, or other liquid container which has been almost emptied by mechanical extracting means, is strained and extracted by a dip pipe 1 connected by a flexible or other pipe 4 with a full container 6 which is emptied through a pipe 7, by mechanically produced suction, the residue flowing from the first container into the second. The dip pipe 1 carries a surge chamber 10, Fig. 2, a valve body 11, a gravity actuated clack valve 13, and an apertured valve guard plate 14, and the lower end of valve body 11 is enclosed within a basket like gauze strainer 15 housed within a detachable strainer box 16 having legs 19. For fine sediment beers an aperture 18 in the bottom of housing 16 may if desired be obturated by a pivoted cover, and longer legs 19 may be used.
