Abstract

169,591. Masters, A. R., and Choppin, M. H. Aug. 10, 1920. Strainers fitted at end of pipes. - A strainer for the suction pipes of beer and like pumps comprises metal discs 2, 3, and a wire gauze 1 supported by a helical wire 4 or other openwork frame; the lower disc 3 has a recess 6 to receive the lower end of an inner tube 5, which is vertically adjustable in the recess 6 and has apertures 7 for the admission of the strained liquid. A gauze cylinder 8 fits inside the tube 5 and covers the apertures 7. Adjustment of the tube 5 in the recess 6 determines the depth of sediment &c. left in the receptacle from which the liquid is drawn.
