Abstract

414,988. Filters. HOCKING, H., and HOCKING & CO., Ltd., 7, York Street, Liverpool. March 8, 1934, No. 7368. [Class 46.] Filtering apparatus applicable for separating oil &c. from condenser water on board ship comprises two chambers 10, 11, one containing rough filtering material, such as coke, and an anti-splash grating 16 and the other a fine filter of cartridge form, for example of fibre 24 enclosed between concentric wire gauze tubes 22, 23 with an outer wrapping of turkish towelling. The water from an inlet 15 rises outside a bucket 13 containing the coke and after filtering through the coke flows through a passage 19 to the inlet 20 of the chamber 11. It passes from the filter cartridge through an overflow pipe 26. Specification 227,722, [Class 46], is referred to.
