Abstract
419,007. Purifying liquids ; gravityseparation apparatus. FERGUSON, T. G., and HOVEY, B. H., c /o Bowser & Co., St. Ann's Hill, Wandsworth, London. June 27, 1933, No. 18322. [Class 46.] Apparatus for purifying liquid, particularly lubricating-oil, comprises a tank divided into four compartments 12, 13, 14, 15, through which the liquid passes successively overflowing from one compartment to the next. The compartment 14 is fitted with filters 46, and the compartment 15 extends underneath the compartments 13, 14. The compartment 12 has a heating coil 74, an inlet 39 an overflow trough 43 and a vertical pipe 78 with adjustable overflow tube 80 through which water separating from the oil under treatment can be discharged. Oil from the trough 43 enters the compartment 13 through straining pails 40 of wire gauze and overflows through an aperture in the wall 24 into the compartment 14. The compartment 14 is fitted with two rows of flat filters 46 from the interior of which the filtrate is discharged at the upper ends of their sides into upward lateral extensions 36, 37 of the compartment 15. The compartment 14 has a heating coil 76. The purified liquid is discharged from the compartment 15 through a pivoted pipe 54, the inlet end of which is supported by a float 57. The tops of all the compartments are provided with hinged doors.
