Abstract
464,600. Frictional pocket igniters. SCOTT, J. H. March 30, 1936, No. 9437. Addition to 338,762, [Class 75 (iii)]. [Class 75 (iii)] In an igniter as described in the parent Specification, an outer casing 10 is slidably fitted over an inner casing 12 provided with a closed fuel reservoir 15 for the vapour burner 37 and a reservoir 16, open at the bottom, for the wick-burner 19. The burner 37 is clamped by a union nut 36 on a fitting 35 screwed into the top wall 13. The friction-wheel 20 is mounted between a pair of uprights 21 carried by a bush 23, secured to the top wall 13 and bored to receive the flint 24. The flintadjusting screw 27 is fitted with a pricker 28 for cleaning the jet nozzle 39. A windshield 29, provided on one side with two elongated ventilating openings, is detachably secured by screws 46 to the top wall 13. The pivoted cover 30 is held by a spring-pressed plunger 44 in the open or closed position. A sheet of heat-insulating material may be held in position on the top wall 13 by means of the fitting 35 and the wick-burner 19. The Provisional Specification states also that the windshield may be secured to the top wall 13 by means of the fitting 35, wick-burner 19 and the flint tube.
