Abstract

464,592. Pistons. W. P. (LYMING- TON), Ltd., and HOWLETT, J. W. Jan. 11, 1936, No. 972. [Class 122 (i)] In a piston comprising a cast metal head and a tubular skirt of different metal in which the bosses 2 are integral with a strut or struts 8 depending from the head and spaced from the ring carrying portion, inwardly extending parts 6 on the skirt are cast on to struts 4 extending below the bosses. The struts 4 may be connected by a ring portion 9. The bosses may be connected to the head by parallel or inclined struts or by an annular strut as described in Specification 451,156. The upper end of the skirt may be inturned at 7 and embedded in the head. The bosses may project into holes in the skirt. Specification 376,404 also is referred to.
