Abstract
666,195. Pistons. DAVEY, PAXMAN & CO., Ltd. May 31, 1950 [July 12, 1949], No. 18419/49. Class 122(i) Cooling oil circulates in a piston through an annular chamber e bounded by the underside of the piston crown d, the inner surface of the piston ring belt f and the outer surface of a hollow conical member c extending from the level of the gudgeon pin bosses b up to the centre of the crown, the oil entering and leaving the chamber through ports g, g<SP>1</SP> in the conical member adjacent the crown. The piston may be a single casting or be cast in two parts with either the conical member, the bosses and the piston skirt or the conical member and bosses as one part. The conical member transmits load directly from the crown centre to the gudgeen pin bosses.
