751,569. Pistons. HEWSON, A. J. Aug. 4, 1954 [Aug. 13. 1953]. No. 22595/54. Class 122(1) To facilitate renewal of the rings 11 of a piston, particularly for an internal combustion engine, the piston is formed in two parts, a body part having a skirt 4, gudgeon pin bosses 5 and a reduced externally threaded upper portion 6, and a hollow ring-carrying part 13 internally threaded to engage the body part, to which it is locked by means such as a locking screw 16a and washer 17, and provided in its top wall 15 with depressions 18 to receive a spanner whereby it may be removed from the body part whilst the latter remains in position in the engine cylinder.
