Abstract
463,447. Multiple drawing-frame for jute, flax, hemp, &c. JUTE INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and BELL, F. J. Oct. 12, 1935, No. 28185. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (iii)] A composite sliver is made from slivers of jute, flax, hemp, sisal, and like fibres by feeding a number of slivers f .. i, Fig. 2, through retaining rollers a, b, c, Fig. 1, gills or porcupines l, and drawing rollers m, n to a sliver plate o designed to permit the treated slivers to converge as a single sliver which is fed through a succeeding set or sets of retaining rollers p, q, r, gills s, and drawing rollers t, u driven at the speeds necessary to effect a continuous multiple drawing or drafting. The sliver plate o is formed with four slots o<1> .. o' inclined at 45‹ and the slivers f, g, h are diverted at right-angles into line with the sliver i. The slivers f, g pass under the plate o and are drawn on to the top over the slots o<1>, o<2> to meet the sliver h, the three slivers then passing downwards through the slot o<3> and up through the slot o<4> to meet the sliver i all four slivers then passing as a single strand through the members p .. v. The machine is preferably made in duplicate the second series of slots being inclined oppositely to the slots o<1> .. o<4>, while, if desired, the machine may be arranged to effect a treble drafting.
