Abstract

463,002. Pumps. RADELET, F., and SCHUL, M. Dec. 4, 1935, No. 33661. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1934. [Class 7 (ii)] A pump is arranged close to the exhaust ports to assist the exhaust and prevent return of combustion products ; it may be of disc or screw type but preferably consists of an annular bladed rotor 8, lodged in an annular exhaust manifold and may be either positively driven, or rotated by the moving gases. A slide valve actuated from the crank shaft may cut off the exhaust duct from the cylinder while the inlet is uncovered, and where exhaust and inlet ducts are adjacent, the valve may also cover the inlet opening while exhaust is taking place. Two fans back to back, and with oppositely sloping blades may be lodged in adjacent exhaust and inlet manifolds.
