Abstract

462,749. Pencil holders. BINA, F. C., and BARREY, F. F. Sept. 23, 1935, No. 26296. [Class 146 (iii)] In a screw propelling pencil the spiral of the screw action extends from a rotary head at the upper end of the pencil and is fixed at its lower end in a non-axially movable sleeve rotatably mounted in the lower portion of the pencil casing. The lead-holder pt is advanced by the co-operation of a head ph with a slot g<1> in the pencil casing c and with the helix s which is soldered or otherwise secured to a sleeve s3 which is rotatably held below a shoulder fs in the screwed sleeve f, which joins the casing c and point c2. One or more slots g3, disposed symmetrically with the slot g1 and opposite corresponding slots f3 in the threads of the sleeve f, are adapted for use as lead reservoirs. The rear end of the helix s is gripped and rotated by a cap s1, containing an eraser s2 and co-operating with the wall c to prevent longitudinal movement of the helix s. The holder pt may be movable on its propeller rod p against a spring sr to expel the lead as described in Specification 309,003, [Class 146 iii)]. In the Provisional Specification, it is stated that only the refillcontaining groove is open at the top, and Specification 412,376 also is referred to.
