Abstract

462,344. Plug cocks. MARTIN, J. Oct. 18, 1935, No. 28815. [Class 135] [Also in Group XVII] A barrel &c. for beer, wine, cider, &c., is vented automatically when the draw-off tap 11, Fig. 2, is opened by connecting a tubular nipple 15 on the tap body by means of a pipe to the cock 29, Fig. 5, of a vent peg, the arrangement being such that when the tap is open one of two diametrically opposite recesses 19 in the tap plug 10 admits air from the atmosphere to the nipple 15 and so vents the barrel &c., the tap of the vent peg being left permanently open. The vent peg may have a relief valve 21 which may be kept out of action by screwing down a plug 22. A tablet of odourless and tasteless disinfectant may be introduced into each of the recesses 19 to sterilize vent air. Specification 260,919, [Class 21], is referred to.
