Abstract
456,967. Pistons. CHEVROLLIER, G., 3, Park Mews West, Marylebone Road, London. July 8, 1936, No. 16250. [Class 122 (i)] In a piston in which oil is supplied under pressure to a groove 12 therein, a spring ring 14 in the groove closes the supply orifices 11 and is yieldable at a predetermined pressure to permit flow of oil to the groove. The groove may be connected by radial-passages 7, 9 and an axial passage 6 or reservoir in the gudgeon pin to the pressure feed oil system of the engine &c. The supply to the groove may be controlled by removable jet member 18. A cruciform supply passage 15 may be formed in the upper part of the piston and may be lined with steel tube. Return passages 20 may connect the groove with the piston interior.
