Abstract

456,475. Gas turbines. JUNKERS, T., 18, Hindenburgstrasse, Gauting, near Munich, Germany, [Representative of JUNKERS, H.]. Oct. 15, 1935, No. 28466. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1934. [Class 110 (iii)] [See also Group XXVIII] The ratio of the inlet and discharge air pressures of an internalcombustion motor-compressor is maintained constant, the compressed air being used in scavenging and charging the motor, the exhaust of which is used to drive a turbine &c. ; the pressure ratio in the combustion cylinder is thus substantially constant. The inlet pressure may be varied automatically or by hand by the throttle valves 12. The motor exhaust passes through the pipe 11 to one side of a piston 23, Fig. 6, having in an extension a bore 21 which controls the outflow and so the discharge pressure, while the other side of the piston is subject to the air inlet pressure through a pipe 27. The spaces 14 at the rear of the compressor pistons may be loaded with a variable pressure by connection with the inlet or outlet pressure during the whole or a part of the stroke, e.g. by the conduit 17 having a port 16 controlled by the piston. Specification 427,668, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
