455,384. Aircraft alighting - gear. DOWTY, G. H., 17, Lansdown Crescent, Cheltenham. April 23, 1935, Nos. 12231 and 15307. [Class 4] ' A retractable undercarriage for aircraft comprises a leg and radius rod articulated together, the upper end of either or both of which is pivoted to the ram of a hydraulic jack which is in fixed alignment and is supported at spaced points including between them the path of movement of the pivot to the ram. In one form, a jack 14 is fixed between the wing spars and the piston operates a guided cross-head 11 which is pivoted to the leg 2. The leg 2 is further connected to the aircraft by a pivoted strut 7. In a modification, both the strut and the leg are pivoted to cross-heads operated by hydraulic jacks which are actuated differentially.
