Abstract

454,744. Wheel tyres. ANDERSSON, K. I. L., and GUSTAVSSON, O. G. L., Ljusdal, and KRISTOFFERSSON, S., Mellansele, both in Sweden. Dec. 20, 1935, No. 35286. [Class 144 (i)] A wheel tyre is formed with a reinforcing T-sectioned metal ring 1 embedded in a rubber portion 2, so that the outer periphery of the ring extends slightly beyond the surface of the rubber. The tyre is connected to the wheel rim 3<a> by radially inclined links 4, mounted on pins 5, 6, which pass through the rim and metal ring, respectively, in order to accommodate deflection of the tyre and to prevent lateral motion thereof. In a modified construction, for use on heavy carriages, the reinforcement 1 may comprise three parallel webs. Flanges 7, Fig. 2, spaced from the sides of the wheel rim, are provided for railway wheels.
