381,748. Guiding vehicles on roadways or tracks. MICHELIN ET CIE, Clermont Ferrand, Puy-de-Dome, France. Nov. 13, 1931, No. 31511. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1930. [Class 79 (v).] Road vehicles running on wheel tracks A are steered or guided by rollers E arranged in pairs and fitted with pneumatic tyres adapted to engage vertical or subtantially vertical guiding surfaces on the tracks or roadway. In the construction shown the track, which may be of concrete, metal, wood, or other substance, is formed with a rib H engaged by the rollers E which are mounted on vertical axes on arms F pivoted to the supporting wheel axle D and controlled by springs G. Modifications are described in which the rollers engage vertical surfaces on the inner sides of both wheel tracks or on the inner and outer sides of one track, and the tracks for the supporting wheels C are inclined inwards so as to assist in keeping the vehicle central. Safety devices may be fitted to prevent damage to the vehicles or to the tracks if the wheels or rollers become deflated.
