607,354. Wheel tyres. AUSTRALIAN STEEL SPLIT PULLEYS PROPRIETARY, Ltd. Jan. 31, 1946, No. 3121. Convention date, Feb. 15, 1945. [Class 144 (ii)] The beads 9, 10 of a tubeless pneumatic tyre are clamped between fixed and detachable rim flanges 7, 8 and a security-ring 12 having a web 14 to support flanged segments 16, 17 between which a cushion-ring 18 is carried to act as an emergency load-support on collapse of the main tyre 11. The cushion 18 may be a wire-reinforced rubber tube which may be fitted with a separate inflating-valve; and, it may be partially filled with water or other liquid adapted to expand or vaporize by heat generated when running under load.
