Abstract

[Class 39 (i)] In order to obtain a linear anode-current, gridvoltage characteristic over at least a portion of the range of a valve, the anode a, Fig. 2, is formed of lengths of flat tape with openings directly opposite the control-grid wires g, and a fourth electrode d is provided outside the anode and is maintained at a potential positive with respect to the cathode. In a modification the anode a, Fig. 3, is outside of a fourth positively-biassed electrode e, which has openings in line with the gaps between the control-grid wires g. In both arrangements a suppressor grid may be placed between the anode and the fourth electrode.
