Abstract
A reaction product of an aliphatic ketone and an aromatic primary amine free from substituents in the para-position is resinified by treatment with a strong non-oxidizing mineral acid. As an example, 100 parts of 2.2.4-trimethyldihydro-quinoline obtained by reacting acetone and aniline are treated with 55 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid for 20 hours at 85--90 DEG C., and the excess acid is subsequently neutralized. The products are useful as anti-oxidants for rubber &c.ALSO:Antioxidants for rubber &c. are obtained by resinifying with a strong non-oxidizing mineral acid a reaction product of an aliphatic ketone and an aromatic primary amine which is free from substituents in the para position. As an example, 100 parts of 2.2.4-trimethyldihydroquinoline obtained by reacting acetone and aniline are treated with 55 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid for 20 hours at 85-90 DEG C., and the excess acid is then neutralized.
