Abstract
Aroylbiurets are prepared by reacting aromatic hydrocarbons with allophanic acid chloride in the presence of an acid condensing agent and decomposing the product with water. The biurets are useful intermediates for the preparation of dyestuffs and pharmaceutical compounds. Examples are given of the preparation of benzoyl-, toluyl- and naphthoyl-biurets by heating benzene, toluene and naphthalene respectively with allophanic acid chloride in the presence of aluminium chloride, and treating the product with water.
