Abstract

449,677. Convertible vehicle seats. COGAN, H. S. B., 58, Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol. Jan. 1, 1935, No. 158/34. [Class 52 (ii)] In a vehicle seat of the type in which the seat back is pivotally connected to the seat portion and adapted to be rotated around the pivot to a horizontal position to form, with the seat, a bed, the seat portion 2 is pivotally connected to curved side brackets 6 forming part of the frame of the seat back 1, and adapted to support the seat in both positions. The seat 2 is carried in a frame 4 having a pair of links 5 which are pivoted to the side brackets 6. The front of the seat is supported by brackets 7 which are pivoted in any one of a series of apertures 7A in rails 9 slidably mounted in guides 10. The lower ends of the brackets 6 are engaged in slots 11 or 12 formed in the rails 9. The back frame 1 is supported on the brackets 6 by stays 13. A detachable extension or leg rest 3 is supported by rods 14 slidably mounted under the seat.
