447,236. Driving-belts. HJARTSATER, J. J., Nygard Railway Station, Norway, Sept. 30, 1935, No. 26939. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1934. [Class 80 (i)] A V-belt of the type comprising harder and softer portions has an outer convex surface 6 and an inner concave surface 7 and is covered on the sides 4 with elastic wearing and friction surfaces. The harder material 2 may be placed in the outer part of the belt, as shown, and the softer material 3 in the inner part, or vice versa, or the harder material may be at the centre, or harder and softer portions may alternate. The harder parts may be of cord or canvas, which may be reinforced, or replaced, by wire, ribbon or rope of beryllimn alloys or other material. The outer and inner coatings 6, 7 may be of rubber.
