720,344. Belt gearing. RAYBESTOSMANHATTON, Inc. Aug. 26, 1952 [Sept. 8, 1951; Jan. 12, 1952], No. 21412/52. Class 80 (1) In a multiple V-belt drive a series of longitudinally extending V or trapezoidal ribs 3 are formed on one face of a top portion 4 and fit closely without any clearance in corresponding grooves 5 of a pulley. The belts are made of a substantially incompressible flexibe material, such as rubber, with rubberized fabric covering and a plurality of tension members, such as cords, may be incorporated in the top portion 4 of the belt. The V-ribs may be formed on both sides of the belt so that the belt can co-operate with pulleys on both sides.
