445,985. Converting. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. April 30, 1935, Nos. 12903 and 12904. Convention dates, Oct. 29, 1934 and Nov. 9, 1934. [Class 38 (ii)] Relates to a rectifying arrangement employing grid controlled discharge devices for supplying a load such as an electrolysis installation which requires a large variation in potential and consists in providing on the A.C. side of the rectifier a condenser for power factor correction together with means such as a choke for protecting the condenser from harmonic currents produced by the rectifier. In addition the condenser-choke combination may be designed so that harmonic current feed back to the A.C. circuit is prevented. If a tapped transformer is used a number of condensers may be employed so that the capacity can be varied with the voltage. Coarse regulation may be effected by the provision of means for effecting star or delta connection on the primary side of the transformer or alternatively by the primary being in two parts which may be series or parallel connected.
