Abstract
443,429. Electrodeposition of tin. SCHLOTTER, M., 133, Alte Jacobstrasse, Berlin. Aug. 27, 1934, No. 24592. Convention date, June 5. [Class 41] Bright deposits of tin are obtained from acid solutions of tin salts containing both lyophile and lyophobe colloids. The lyophile colloids employed may include glue, gelatine, agar-agar and albuminous substances and the lyophobe colloids may include bitumen, cellulose derivatives, wood tar or its extracts, and resins obtained by sulphurizing phenol. In addition to the colloids a capillary active substance such as a sulphonated oil, e.g. turkey red oil, may be added to the bath. Examples of suitable proportions are : (i) tin (as a stannous salt) 25 gms., sulphuric acid of 66‹ BÚ. 75 gms., glue 1 gm. sulphurized phenol resin 1À5 gms., alpha-naphthol 0À5 gms., water 1000 gms. ; (ii) tin as tin benzene disulphonate 30 gms., benzene disulphonic acid 90 gms., gelatine 0À8 gms., beech wood tar 20 c.c., water 1000 gms.
