Abstract
852,030. Levelled nickel electrodeposits. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. Feb. 7, 1958 [Feb. 21, 1957], No. 5829/57. Class 41 Level nickel electrodeposits are produced by an acidic aqueous nickel electrolyte solution containing a small dissolved proportion of xanthone or the 2 : 7-disulphonic acid, 2 : 7- disulphonamide, or the 2 : 7-disulphonacetamide derivative thereof. The upper concentration for the disulphonic acid derivative is given as 2 grns/litre, while the other compounds may be present up to their saturation values. The nickel solutions may be sulphate, chloride or Watts' type baths. Xanthone-2 : 7-disulphonacetamide gives bright deposits, the other additives giving only semi-bright deposits.
