Abstract
A method of clarifying industrial liquors, for example solutions of ilmenite in sulphuric acid, acid solutions obtained in preparing titanium pigments or solutions containing phosphoric acid, consists in first adding an organic colloid to remove finely divided matter by settlement and then a second organic colloid, which will coagulate with the first and remove by settlement any remaining finely divided matter. The first colloid may be a glue, gelatin, alginate, albuminoid, protein or dextrine, and the second tannin or tannic acid, gallo-tannic acid, quinic acid or pyrogallic acid. The colloids are preferably used in the form of concentrated aqueous solutions.ALSO:A method of clarifying industrial liquors, for example, solutions of ilmenite in sulphuric acid, acid solutions obtained in preparing titanium pigments or solutions containing phosphoric acid, consists in first adding an organic colloid to remove finely divided matter by settlement and then a second organic colloid, which will coagulate with the first and remove by settlement any remaining finely-divided matter.
