[Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver, the production of an untrue intermediate frequency causes a control current to flow to correct the tuning of the receiver. the magnitude of the control current increasing as the receiver approaches resonance and ceasing at a point near resonance. The Figure shows a local oscillator V3. Beats between the local oscillation and the intermediate frequency are rectified by a diode 9 and operate a relay 11 to control a motor 13 driving a condenser 14 in the local oscillator circuit.
