Abstract

<PICT:0441660/IV/1> <PICT:0441660/IV/2> Apparatus for dyeing piece goods made from animal, vegetable or artificial fibres, particularly closely woven or felted material, at atmospheric pressure, comprises a dye tank or bath through which the fabric is passed, in endless form C, as shown, or as a continuous length. One or more series of pipes D, D<1> are fixed in staggered arrangement relative to the line of feed of the fabric C between them, and situated at a distance not more than six inches from the fabric. Air or steam or a mixture of both is admitted to the dye bath V through perforations in the pipes to set up a turbulence of the dye liquor in the vicinity of the fabric and a difference of pressure of dye liquor on the two sides of the fabric. The axes of the perforations in the pipes D, D<1> are not in the same plane. The temperature of the dye bath may be controlled by closed steam coils E.
