Abstract

<PICT:0632975/IV (c)/1> Cloth is dyed by feeding it continuously in open width and without tension and simultaneously passing the dye liquor through the cloth by means of forced or induced circulation. For example, the cloth 1 is fed by rollers 2 between two endless bands 3 and 4 which are moving at a linear speed lower than that of the rollers 2, and the liquor is projected against the cloth from nozzles 5, collected at 7 and recirculated by the pump 6. An apparatus is described in which a permeable endless band passes around at least one foraminous hollow roller having a hollow stub shaft by means of which the dye liquor is circulated through the roller and the permeable band, and in which means are provided for feeding the cloth without tension between the band and the roller without compressing the cloth.
