Abstract

<PICT:0428812/IV/1> <PICT:0428812/IV/2> <PICT:0428812/IV/3> Fabrics are shrunk in passing from the grip of one surface, e.g. a roller C, to the grip of another surface, e.g. the roller D, the speed of the first surface being higher than the speed of the second surface. The rollers may be perforated and the fabric held thereon by external pressure or internal suction. The suction in the second roller may be greater than that in the first roller to facilitate transfer of the material, and may be produced by fans &c. at the ends of the rollers. The fabric may be initially softened and damped by steam from jets j, and may finally be dried by jets of air O around the roller D.
