Abstract

917,086. Ironing-machines. FREDHOLM, G. I. March 30, 1961, No. 11788/61. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XIII] An ironing machine with rollers evacuated by suction has in combination a drying device disposed about the rollers comprising a heated chamber through which fluid sucked from the rollers passes on its way to a suction device (not shown) and a transport track extending transversely of the rollers for advancing articles from the rollers of the machine along a wall of the heated chamber remote from the rollers, the arrangement being such that hot air from the rollers rises over the transport track and the chamber. Fig. 2 shows the rear end of a threeroller machine. Clothes to be ironed are fed by a short conveyer belt so as to be carried between each roller 3 and its corresponding heated chest 6 by adjustable endless belts 8 as indicated by the chain-dotted line A. Suction from the rollers 3 is drawn up pipes 15 in which a baffle 35 separates fluid sucked from the first two rollers from that from the third. After roller 3 the ironed clothes are advanced by an endless belt 23 up the curved end of the chamber 20 and along its top surface 21 at a point above the leading roller (Fig. 1, not shown). A short endless belt 30 reverses the clothes over a roller 25 and carries them back along the returning sector of the belt 23 to be delivered off the machine at A<SP>1</SP>. The chamber 20 and belts 23 and 30 from an assembly which can be hinged back for maintenance around the axis of the belt roller 28, as shown by chain-dotted lines at B in Fig. 2.
