439,861. Closure member for sheetmetal containers. HUTTENWERKE SIEGERLAND AKT.-GES., Siegen, Westphalia, Germany. March 9, 1934, No. 7548. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 10, 1934]. [Classes 21 and 125 (iii)] A closure member for sheet-metal containers consists of a sheet metal cap drawn over the closure member and provided with a cavity for the reception of a packing ring. The cavity may be of various shapes, preferably having inclined sides to ensure the packing ring being held fast. The closure member comprises a threaded bushing 2, with flanged parts 3, 4 one on each side of the container wall 1, the outer part 3 accommodating a packing ring 5, and the inner flange 4 pressing against a metal ring 6. This bushing receives a stopper 7 over which is drawn a cap 8, the lower part 9 of the flange of which is bent inwardly to engage under a rim on the bushing 2. The centre part 10 of the cap is dished to provide an annular cavity with sloping walls 11 to receive a packing ring 12.
