Abstract
439,066. Spectacles. WHEWAY, H. A., 214, Barr Street, Birmingham. Sept. 6, 1934, No. 25662. [Class 97 (i)] Means for securing bridges or temple pieces to the frames or lenses of spectacles or eyeglasses comprise the combination with the bridge &c. and a securing member, of a pair of tubular sockets passing through apertures in the frame or lens, and a pair of pins adapted to be inserted in the open ends of the sockets, the sockets being provided on the bridge &c. and the pins on the securing member, or vice versa. The Figures show the attachment of a metal bridge a to non-metallic rims b, the bridge having downwardly extending parts c each of which is provided with a pair of parallel tubular sockets d passing through holes in the rim. The securing member consists of a plate e having pins d which fit tightly within the sockets. When the sockets are passed through the rim and the pins pushed home into the sockets, the rim is gripped between the part c of the bridge and the plate e. The open ends of the sockets may be expanded slightly before the pins are inserted.
