Abstract
688,180. Spectacle frames. TARDY, R. Dec. 4, 1951 [Dec. 29, 1950], No. 28367/51. Class 97 (i). In spectacles having a frame formed of a continuous flat metallic bar curved to form a nose bridge and carrying side arms at its ends, the lenses or lens-carrying rims are fixed to the bar 1 by clamps 2 fixed to the bar at points adjacent the bridge 9 and side-arms, the clamps extending first rearwardly and then substantially parallel to the bar so that a pair of clamps on each side of the bridge are directed towards one another so that their extremities 3 are spaced from the bar to be located in cavities 5, Fig. 6, provided in the inner faces of the lenses 4 or of the lens rims. The bar 1 may be bent round the upper edges of the lenses as shown in Fig. 6, the clamps being concealed from view from the front. The clamps adjacent the bridge may have extensions 6 bearing nose-pieces 7 and small lugs 12 may be provided to engage the top edges of the lenses.
