820,331. Spectacle frames. BRITISH AMERICAN OPTICAL CO. Ltd., and FERRIGNO, S. Oct. 16, 1957 [Nov. 28, 1956], No. 36430/56. Class 97(1) A spectacle frame comprises metal lens rims and detachable plastic fittings, each rim having split in the region where it is overlaid by the fitting and the interengaging faces of the rim and its fitting being so shaped that the fitting can be sprung into place to maintain the split rim around its associated lens. As shown, the spectacle frame comprises metal eye rims 10 attached to the tapered ends 24 of a nose bridge 11 and having a projection 27 over which is sprung one end of a plastic fitting 10, the other end of which has a groove to receive the tapered end 24 of the bridge. In this way the fitting holds the eye rim which is split in the region 25 around the lens and yet is easily detached to allow access to the lens. Side arms are hinged to bifurcated members between which the fittings 14 are screw clamped.
