Abstract
597,289. Spectacle frames. ABBEY, A. (American Optical Co.). Aug. 13, 1945, No. 20746. [Class 97 (i)] In spectacles having temple supports extending from the bridge and shaped to follow the upper contour edges of the lenses, the end of each support is detachably secured in a stud box secured to a lens strap on the nasal side of the lens, each box also detachably supporting one end of the bridge, and if desired, nose pads. As shown, the box 7, secured to lens strap 10 by the end 13 of a nose-pad support 9, receives the ends 20, 29 respectively of the bridge 4 and temple support 15, a screw 8 engaging aligned apertures therein. Alternatively, the box 7 may be secured directly to the strap 10, the arm 9 being either secured to the box 7 or having an apertured end held within the box by the screw 8. Temple supports and bridges of different sizes may thus be readily fitted.
