Abstract
755,746. Spectacle frames. LONDON OPTICAL CO., Ltd., and SNELLING, C. R. Dec. 31, 1954 [Jan. 27, 1954; June 24, 1954], Nos. 2514/54 and 18559/54. Class 97 (1). In a spectacle frame having lens-carrying portions extending only along the upper portions of the lenses and which are grooved to receive the edges of the said lenses which are held in place by a flexible thread loop passing along the remaining grooved peripheral portion of the associated lens arc or each end of the thread is anchored to the frame by being passed endwise into the groove of the related lens-carrying portion and for a distance along the latter so as to be clamped between the lens and the lens-carrying portion and thence passed out through a hole in the said portion to a retaining means. As shown in Fig. 6, the lens-carrying portion; which is attached to a frame having a central bridge and hinged temple arms, has a hole 12 through which one end of the thread 9 is passed and a second hole 13 through which it again enters the groove in the portion 3. The thread is thus clamped between the lens and the portion 3 both adjacent the hole 12 and adjacent the hole 13. Alternatively on emerging from the hole 12 the end of the thread may be secured to a retaining member.
