Abstract

623,706. Spectacle frames. PASCOE, W. J. May 16, 1947, No. 13250. [Class 97 (i)] In rimless spectacles in which the lenses are supported by a metal framework comprising a bridge and two members connected thereto carrying the temple hinges, each connecting member passes over the top of the associated lens and carries an ornamental cover of plastic material having the appearance of a partial rim. As shown, the metal bridge B and connecting members C support the lenses A by means of forked lugs D, D<SP>1</SP> and carry temple hinges E. A plastic covering G over bridge and members may, if desired, be extended as shown at G<SP>1</SP> to provide nose-engaging portions. The lugs D<SP>1</SP> may be omitted and the plastic covering G. be provided over only a portion of the members C. Instead of lugs, the frame may carry projections which are sprung into slots in the edges of the lenses to support the latter. The plastic cover may be moulded in position or may be in two portions secured together by cement.
