Abstract
608,081. Spectacle frames. PICCADILLY LABORATORIES, Ltd., and GLUCKSTERN, H. Feb. 14, 1946, No. 4725. [Class 97 (i)] Spectacles in which the lenses are supported relative to each other by a frame of plastic including a bridge-piece and portions extending only partially around the periphery of each lens is characterised by the fact that each lens is secured on the frame by straps or the like of metal carried by the frame and to which the lenses are attached by screws or rivets. As shown, the frame comprises elements 18, 21 connected to the lens by metal straps 22 riveted or moulded to the elements. The straps for the elements 21 may be extensions of the hinge. In a modification, the elements 18, 21 are fixed across the upper contours of the lenses forming a unitary structure. According to the Provisional Specification the lenses may be secured to the frame by glue, cement, screws or rivets.
