Abstract
437,768. Starting ; carburetting; auxiliary charges. PASSMORE, R. S., 162, Aro Street, Wellington, New Zealand. Nov. 19, 1934, No. 33278. [Classes 7 (ii), 7 (iii), and 7 (v)] In a device for facilitating the starting of an internal-combustion engine of the kind in which air is admitted to a closed fuel tank 2, a rich mixture is drawn from the tank to the induction manifold 14 through pipes 8, 13 and a controlled supply of air is admitted to the mixture at 12, the means for admitting air to the tank comprises a tube 1 closed at both ends, and having one end projecting from the top of the tank, and the other end adjacent the bottom of the tank, and horizontal slots adjacent both ends. The slots at the bottom of the tube are located on the side facing the outlet 6. A valve 9 on the mixture supply pipe and the air valve 16 are arranged behind the dashboard 10 which may carry a graduated scale for regulating the degree of opening of the air valve. The air supply pipe 21 may be connected to the crank case breather.
