Abstract
139,853. Lawrence, B. Jan. 29, 1919. Carburetting. -A carburettor for internal - combustion engines, particularly for use in starting, comprises a well C to which fuel may be fed automatically, a cover D having air inlets F, a partly submerged wick H surrounding a reversible tube G formed with openings G' nearer to or larger at one end of the tube than the other and a. wad J of absorbent material in the delivery pipe B leading to the engine induction pipe A. Supplementary air inlets, adjustable by means of a sleeve, may be provided on the pipe B, and a similar sleeve may be provided for the air inlets F. A covered filling-hole D<3> may be provided. The upper end of the wad J may be turned over to dip into the fuel. In a modification, the delivery pipe B passes upwards through the cover instead of through the bottom of the well C. The carburettor may be jacketed.
